Annual Kick-Off Picnic and Duke Game Information!
Hello Nole Fans!
I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer and doing everything possible to stay cool. Also, if you haven’t heard the FSU license plates have made their way out to those that helped us attain the goal by filling out an application. Those that weren’t in the first round, stay tuned. We’ve been told that you can go into the plate office and order one or wait until the website is updated with the FSU plate and order then.
We do have a couple events coming up, including our annual kick-off picnic. The picnic will be Sunday August 28, 2011 at 12PM (noon). This year we will be heading back to Lake Crabtree Park and have reserved the "White Oak" shelter. The Triangle Seminole Club will provide hamburgers and hotdogs along with drinks for everyone. Please feel free to bring a side or dessert for everyone to enjoy. In addition to the great food, there will also be raffle prizes and a piñata for the kids. Additional information on Lake Crabtree can be found here – http://www.wakegov.com/parks/lakecrabtree/default.htm.
We do ask that you RSVP via email or the Facebook invite if you plan to come so we can be sure to have enough food for everyone. This event is open to everyone, so be sure to bring the family out. It’s a great time to meet new members and catch up with old one.
Also, FSU Football will be in town to play Duke this year. The game is on October 15, but the time is still TBD. We’ve worked with the FSU Alumni Association and Duke to come up with a great deal this year. The Triangle Seminole Club will be hosting a tailgate for all local and traveling fans. We’ve been able to acquire a package for $40/person that includes food, with the meal catered by Thrills from the Grill. Below is their menu.
Thrills from the Grill
Carolina-mopped Chicken
Grilled Hamburgers
Grilled All-beef Hot Dogs
Condiments (including homemade chili)
Creamy Cole slaw
Italian pasta salad
Fresh cookies
Tea, Lemonade, and Coke products
The cost for BOTH the meal and a ticket is $40/person, which is the best deal we were able to find. If you don’t want the meal, I still encourage you to pay for it as tickets for the game from both FSU and Duke are $45/each. In addition the food we’ll have beer, raffle prizes and we’re working with FSU to have the cheerleaders stop by. We’ll be sending out more information along with ordering details in the next few weeks.
We hope to see everyone at the kick-off picnic on August 28, and please don’t forget to RSVP.
Thanks!
Jeremy Merrill

I received my letter about the license plate, but cannot for the life of me figure out what the NL is for at the end. Any answers? Thanks, Jackie Howser
Jackie,
NL is for “Nole”. We had to choose 2 letters and FL, FS, ST were all taken. We figured NL was the next best thing.
Thanks!
Jeremy
Hey Jeremy,
We got a jump on our tickets and ordered them from the FSU athletics site. Are we able to purchase food only tickets since we already have our game tickets?
Thanks!
-Amber and Mike Harrer
Yes, there will be an option through the FSU Alumni Association – tickets for meals will be $25 (the same price Duke is charging us). Stay tuned for more details…
DUH! Sometimes at my age the brain goes blank! Also, we would like 2 tickets for Duke game and meal. We have not been to a game for 5 years. Let us know.
Jackie
Hope to see you there!! We’ll be posting up information on how to order the tickets in the next couple weeks – still finalizing some logistics.
Can’t wait to meet everybody at the picnic!
Will I be able to purchace a ticket forthe pregame get together at the door? If so where is it going to be.
Thank You
Ken
Ken,
Unfortunately all meals needed to be prepaid, but below is all the info you should need for tomorrow.

Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to share with everyone the details around the Duke tailgate. As a quick reminder, the tailgate is open to anyone to come by hang out, enjoy FSU company, and participate in the raffle – it’s not required that you buy your ticket (or meal) from us to join us at the tailgate.
Food:
First, we had a slight change with regards to the caterer. Due to some events outside our control, we’ve had to change to Bullock’s BBQ for the caterer. The meal is as follows:
Bullock’s BBQ
Pulled Pork BBQ
Baked or BBQ Chicken
Baked Beans
Cole Slaw
Hush Puppies
Rolls
Tea and Coke Products
Beer:
Thanks to the FSU Alumni Association, we will have some beer on hand for those that are over 21. We will be wristbanding and checking IDs. We can’t legally sell the beer, but can accept donations to help offset the cost. This is an option for everyone, it doesn’t require that you bought you meal or game through us.
Location/Parking:
The location of the tailgate is in “Blue Devil Alley”, which can be seen here -https://admin.xosn.com/attachments1/63575.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=5100, and is located right outside Cameron Indoor Stadium. There will also be signs to help direct you to the tailgate area. We’ll have a tent with tables/chairs as well as balloons and banners. Right now, the only parking that we’re aware of is the yellow area on the above map.
Tickets:
Tickets for both the game and meals will be at the tailgate. Upon arrival there will be 2 lines for check-in (most likely A-M and N-Z based on last name). This is where you will receive your meal ticket and game ticket. If you would like to sit with a group of people, please check-in at the same time with your group. The tickets will be located in Section 3, which is behind the FSU bench. ALL TICKETS MUST BE CLAIMED BY 2:30 AT the Tailgate.
Schedule of Events:
12:00-3:00 - Tailgate
12:00-2:30 - meal/game tickets are distributed, DJ is present
12:30-2:30 - meals will be served
1:30 - Candi Fisher arrives for us to present our donation to the Kidz 1st Fund
2:00 (?) – Cheerleaders stop by
3:00 - Game time
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thanks!
Jeremy Merrill
